International Women's Day

 Today marks the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day.  This is a global event honoring the women in our lives today, and all those who have gone before us. Women who dared, risked, and lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and equality. May women everywhere know lives free of oppression, fear, and hate. May all women know peace.                                                                          
                             

                               Praise our choices,sisters, for each doorway
                               open to us was taken by squads of fighting
                               women who paid years of trouble and struggle,
                               who paid their wombs, their sleep, their lives
                               that we might walk through these gates upright.
